On a recent road trip, I passed through Plains, Georgia, the hometown of President Jimmy Carter. It happened to be about lunch time, so my adopted humans, David and Shirley, were ready to take a break from driving.
We had some delicious Southern style cooking at a local cafe. David ate a hamburger but Shirley had soup beans and cornbread. Homemade pie with ice cream was our dessert. It was rural Americana at its best.
President Carter was scheduled to teach Sunday School the next morning and we thought about staying for that but then decided to get on the road. While we were there, we browsed at an antique mall and I saw a log cabin just my size.
